"Fun" Facts For Ya on Matthew 24 - PT2

"People recognize something's going to happen, and they'd better get ready." —Dr. Tim LaHaye
3

So as not to sound like a broken record, this three part series that Rohn and I are putting out, is not in any way meant to tear any well intentioned pastor/teacher down. Again, we are simply trying to clarify a handful of sections in Matthew 24 that unfortunately have been misinterpreted and a source of confusion for many.

I might have said this before, but the more I study Bible prophecy, the more I realize that I’ve relied for far too long on commentaries and other pastors’/teachers’ interpretations (often times incorrect) of His Word, rather than allowing the Holy Spirit to help me understand His Word. And, I know that I’m not alone in this. Check out what Pastor J.D. Farag said this past Sunday during his weekly prophecy update:

Let me clarify. I’m in no way saying that one cannot use them, if at all need be; however, I highly recommend seeking the meaning of a passage of the Bible using scripture itself. Okay, now I sound like a broken record. Suffice it to say, much like Pastor J.D. said that:

“you read 5 commentators (commentaries) and you get 10 different views.”

I (as well as Rohn) want everyone to understand that every true believer has the Holy Spirt dwelling within them. Think about it for a minute. The Spirit of the living God, the One that spoke the universe into existence and set the stars, moon and sun in the sky, is the same exact Spirit that dwells in you and me! Take a look at what Paul said in his first letter to the Corinthians in regards to the Spirit of God, aka, the Holy Spirit:

“But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” —1 Corinthians 2:10-13 (NKJV)

Basically, it’s the Holy Spirit that gives us understanding to the things of God—to His Word.

As always, please don’t take Rohn or my word for it. Be a Berean and do the research yourself. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you search these things out. Our encouragement to you family is that as you read through Matthew 24 and study these key verses that we discuss in the podcast. It’s imperative that you remember 4 very important facts:

  1. The church had not yet been “born” when Jesus gave the Olivet discourse.

  2. Jesus was speaking to Jewish men, not Christian men—let alone Gentiles.

  3. The entire chapter outlines the period beginning at the flip-side of the Rapture.

  4. Matthew 24 is an outline of Revelation 6-19.

For anyone that might have missed Part 1’s quick write up, let me share once again—because it’s important for each of us to understand—the ‘Golden Rule’ of Biblical interpretation put out by Dr. David L. Cooper who was the founder of the Biblical Research Society. This is what he said:

“When the plain sense of scripture makes common sense, seek no other sense; therefore, take every word at its primary, ordinary, usual, literal meaning unless the facts of the immediate context, studied in the light of related passages and axiomatic and fundamental truths indicate clearly otherwise.”

Once again, Dr. Cooper is essentially saying that when the Biblical text you’re reading makes sense, don’t look for another meaning. Reason being is that if you go down that road, you run the risk of coming up with a tangled biblical mess. In other words—theological non-sense.

The bottom line is that Jesus is coming back soon! Though many "scoff" at this fact, saying, "They've been saying that for a long time," we can rest assured in God's perfect timing, knowing that if the signs of His second coming are becoming clearer by the day, imagine how close we are to the Rapture of the Church.

Jesus made the connection between the days leading up to His second advent and the days of Noah in Matthew 24:37 saying:

“But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” (NKJV)

Enoch was taken before Noah went into the ark. Fact! It says in Genesis 5:25 that:

“…Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.” (NKJV)

Noah is a type of Israel. God supernaturally protected Noah and his family all throughout the flood as He will do to the nation of Israel throughout Daniel’s 70th week. Fact!

So, if Enoch was taken (symbolic of the rapture) by God before Noah went into the ark and experienced the flood (symbolic of Dan’s 70th) then that means we’re outta here soon—very soon!

The "storm clouds" have formed and the "rain" is fast approaching. Forget your umbrellas, because we - true believers - don't need them. We're getting out of here any moment!

In the meantime, get out and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Give hope through the Good News to as many as you can because we’re living on borrowed time! Make it count.

GOSPEL CARDS: A HELPFUL TOOL

If you’d like to get your hands on the gospel cards that I produce, please email me at info@SerpentsNDoves.com and I will send you however many you’d like for free. Here’s the catch, the only thing I’d ask is that you’d cover the shipping cost.

If you feel led to donate to help offset the costs of production, that’d be great. However, if you cannot, I’ll still send them your way.

😁Have A Nice Day!👍🏻
