Serpents & Doves X Jim McCraigh: The Churches Downward Spiral Continues

The church in the West seems to be self-imploding and in an unrecoverable downward spiral and many of its "leaders" are on an ego boosted quest to the "top"—whatever it takes.

It’s no secret that the church is up a creek without a paddle!

Fact: Satan has “joined” the ranks of the church and has created chaos from within. If you don’t believe that, then I would strongly encourage you to take a step back and do some serious research. It won’t take long until you come to the same realization.

Jim and I sat down to talk about this very issue. He’s written extensively about the ever so real downward spiral of the Western church. Though not technically a new “issue”, it’s a growing epidemic. In his research, Jim has uncovered some very startling truths.

What do these statistics prove? They prove that many within the church aren’t truly saved. They’re tares amongst the wheat. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we have 3 kinds of church goers attending services today. None of these descriptions are by any means meant to be exhaustive.

First is the true believer. This is the sold-out, Bible believing, Christ fearing, God revering believer: blood bought, spirit filled, justified and forgiven! Then there’s the non-believer. This is the person that comes to church from varying religious backgrounds of whom many may be catholic, agnostic or even atheists, et.al. They come via invitation by a family member, friend or co-worker. They can either go the way of Christ or continue down the road to perdition—prayerfully the former. The final one is the most dangerous. They are what I call the ‘make-believers’. Dangerous in two senses.

  1. They have a false sense of salvation. They make up a large portion of the group I refer to as ‘cultural or patriarchal’ “Christians”. The thought behind it is that they are Americans, therefore they are Christians. Or, the ‘Patriarchal’ thought pattern is as follows: Either they believe they’re Christians because their parents are or because they grew up in a Christian household.

  2. They are not only of the world, but, they bring the world into the church and its inner workings. They root for social justice, DEI or the LGBTQ/Trans movment.

Needless to say, this is just scratching the surface. Bottom line is we have extremely serious issues plaguing the body of Christ. Yet, most go unnoticed or ignored under the guise of loving one another and ‘tolerance’. Let me share a few verses that we as the church—the body of Christ—would do well to abide by:

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” —Galatians 6:7

“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
But the Lord weighs the hearts.” —Proverbs 21:2

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.” —Matthew 5:6

“The wicked man does deceptive work,
But he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward.” —Proverbs 11:8

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, yousinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” —James 4:8

“Righteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a reproach to any people.” —Proverbs 14:34

And finally, Matthew 13:30 is a stark reminder by Jesus himself of what to expect when talking about the wheat and tares:

“Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”

The question remains: Which one are you? If you’re not sure, you can, be by giving your life to Jesus right now! Romans 10:8-13 says:

“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Call on the ONLY One in which salvation can be found—Jesus the Christ!
