If there’s one thing that I really enjoy hearing are the story’s of God’s redemptive power in people’s lives—aka: testimonies! They are amazing displays of God’s grace, mercy and redemptive power. The Lord says in 2 Peter 3:9 that:
“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us (you), not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (NKJV)
To know that our Lord hasn’t come quite yet shows His true nature of love as seen in Peter’s verse above. Our Lord wants as many people/souls as possible to come to know Him as their Lord and Savior before the end. And trust me, by the looks of things around the world, it is coming! My hope is that this episode would serve as an encouragement to everyone that watches or listens in—even if you are in “seasoned” believer.
Much can be said about God having the market cornered when it comes to the ‘clean-up’ and ‘restoration’ business. No matter how bad the condition of the ‘sinner’ seems to be, God can restore! He can salvage any ship headed for the rocks! There’s no pit deep enough or place dark enough where the Lord cannot reach. We serve the great I AM!

When the Harvest Crusades were in their “infancy”, circa early 1990’s, pre-Angel Stadium days, two of the main CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) artists that perfomed back then were Benny Hester and a gal by the name of Crystal Lewis. During the altar calls, she used to sing a beautiful song called ‘Come Just As You Are’. The beauty about that song was that it echoed the Lord’s call to all:
“My son, my daughter, come to me just as you are. I don’t care what you’ve done. I gave my life so that you can be forgiven and made whole. I love you!”
One might be tempted to ask what is so special about Mark’s story? Actually everything! Why? Because it’s unique—to him. Every testimony is unique. It’s yet another display of God’s redemptive power, another sinner saved by grace out of the clutches of the enemy and hell itself. Remember that the Lord is the One and Only TRUE Master restorer. With each story, we witness the Word of God come alive as it says in 2 Corinthians 5:17:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (NKJV)
If you’re in Christ, be thankful for His grace, mercy and compassion. Be a shinning light to the world around you and salt of the earth. Share Jesus because times are short and there are many who are on the road to perdition.
If you don’t know who Jesus is and you’re wondering if there’s more to life than what this world has to offer, or, if God can forgive you, let me be the first to tell you that the answer is a resounding YES!
I’ll leave you with just a few lines from Crystal Lewis’ song ‘Come Just As You Are’. Take them to heart. If you sense the gently tug of the Holy Spirit, don’t ignore it. Give it all to Him and watch the Master at work!
Come just as you are
Hear the spirit call
Come just as you are
Come and see
Come receive
Come and live forever
Life Everlasting
Strength for today
Taste the living water
And never thirst again
Friend, just as Mark was drawn by the Holy Spirit and responded in surrender, I want to encourage you not to put Jesus off and come to Him just as you are. Don’t wait, do it now because tomorrow is promise to no man!
“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” James 4:13-14 (NKVJ)
