From America To Papua New Guinea And Back

"Serve God by doing common actions in a heavenly spirit, and then, if your daily calling only leaves you cracks and crevices of time, fill them up with holy service."—Charles Spurgeon

It seems like only yesterday that Rohn and I were talking about his plans to go to Papua New Guinea with his lovely bride, Joell, and join their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren in the work of the Lord in PNG. That was back in April/May of 2023. Well, here we are, the time has come and gone. Just another reminder to all of us that time waits for no one and cannot be taken back or undone.

Time is a strange and curious thing. When we are young, we wish we were older. When we're old, we wish we were younger. But rarely do we really stop and think about time as an investment in eternity. The reason is this: As long as we are in this body of flesh and blood, we are finite beings - living in time. But hopefully, as we get older, our perspective on time and what we do with it, how we use every moment, changes. Three things have become increasingly clear to me about time as I get older:

Share

Number one: I realize that I've wasted a lot of time in my life in pursuit of things that King Solomon calls "vanity"...a chasing after the wind. That’s something that I have to live with, and ultimately there's only one thing I can do about it...learn from it!

Number two: Time is beholden to no one! Time does not wait for anybody. Dr. Seuss summed it up best when he said:

"How did it get so late so early?"

The moral of his quote is: Don't waste any more time, because it's precious. And, time flies…so, make the best of it (which is part of number 3).

Lastly, number three: Let me set this up with a quote from J.R.R. Tolkien. It's from his book ‘The Fellowship of the Rings’ taken from the series ‘The Lord of the Rings’:

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

We MUST use and take advantage of every single moment that the Lord has given to each one of us! We will, in the end, be held accountable for it. Remember that time is of the essence and extremely valuable! It's a commodity that we willingly exchange for money…i.e. work. Everything we do revolves around time.

Seeing that the hunger for the Word of God and the things of God are on the wane, how much more should we be redeeming it! We have a God given responsibility for the sharing of the gospel of Jesus Christ! Rohn and Joell answered the call!

Rohn brought back some incredible insights from Papua New Guinea and we sat down to have a heart to heart talk about the message he has for us here at home in America. Our prayer, both Rohn's and mine alike, is that you will be blessed and encouraged, yet challenged to redeem the time that we have left here, whatever that may be.

Let's face it, time is NOT on our side! We are living on borrowed time. So the best thing we can do is to use the time we have, every moment and opportunity we are given, to shine the light of Christ on those around us (family, friends, co-workers, etc.) by sharing the message of hope offered only in a right relationship with Jesus Christ.

Don’t waste anymore time, John 9:4 says:

“We must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work.” (AMP)

If you haven’t called on the name of the Lord to be saved, I want to urge you not to put it off any longer. Time is of the essence! Call on the name of the Lord while He may be found. Remember friend that today, this moment is the day of salvation. This is what it says in Romans 10:9-10:

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Call out to Jesus. He loves you. He knows you and will hear your cry!

Blessings,

Pablo
